Statuette "Antique Dealer"

The presented work is a characteristic example of Viennese decorative bronze of the early XX century. The statuette is marked with the brand of the famous Viennese bronze foundry, founded by a native of the Czech Republic, Franz Bergman. The objects of artistic bronze executed here were often marked with the signature "Nam Greb", which is an anagram of the surname Bergmann. The whole direction of the "Vienna bronze" was devoted to scenes from the life of the Arab world. The interest of Europeans in the East in the XIX —XX centuries was most evident in art. The East from North Africa to Central Asia and the Middle East has become the subject of art by European artists and sculptors.
