Victoria (Nika) is the ancient Greek light-winged goddess of victory. The sculptor depicted a triumphant young goddess in the classical canon: this is a winged young girl, whose pose brings joy, success and victory. Nika gives victory only to the most worthy. Unlike Fortune, she sees and chooses the best of the best.
It is "Fame and success" that is the meaning put by the author into this sculpture, it is not for nothing that it is also called "Fame", i.e. fame, recognition. Louis Ernest Barrias (Barrias Louis-Ernest), (1841-1905) was a famous French sculptor. He lived and worked in Paris. Louis Ernest graduated from the Paris School of Fine Arts, studied with such masters as Geoffroy, Konye and Cavalier. The first works that received public recognition were portrait busts. In 1865, he had the opportunity to move to Italy for a while. It is in this period that, as many art historians agree, the roots of the lightness and harmony that are characteristic of Barria's works lie.: he lived, studied and worked among antique plastics, music frozen in marble. In 1897, Louis Ernest Barria was appointed vice-president of the Academy of Fine Arts. His works are successfully sold at world auctions, exhibited in major museums and decorate private collections.
