Large sculpture (41cm in length; 13.5kg). In Greek mythology, Europa was the daughter of Agenor, the Phoenician king, after whom the continent of Europe was named. Zeus, who fell in love with Europe, kidnapped her, either by turning himself into a snow-white bull with small pearl horns, or by sending a bull after her, which he then turned into the constellation Taurus out of gratitude. On the back of this beautiful white bull, Europa swam across the sea and got to Crete, where Zeus shared a bed with her, after which she gave birth to three sons. The myth of the abduction of Europa by Zeus in the form of a bull is presented in this full-fledged and large-scale bronze sculpture. Antique subjects are one of the traditional lines of real bronze sculpture.
