Jerome Jean-Leon (1824-1904) was a French painter and sculptor, famous for paintings of very diverse content, mainly depicting the life of the ancient world and the East. Having received worldwide recognition and fame as an artist, Jerome became interested in sculpture, where he won no less laurels. He has repeatedly exhibited and won prizes in Paris salons. In all oriental genres, the famous artist is struck by the elegant and conscientious transfer of climate, terrain, folk types and the smallest details of the household environment, studied by Jerome during repeated visits to Egypt and Palestine.
A sculpture of serious size (60cm, 11.6 kg) is a worthy piece of furniture.
