We present a fairly large sculpture (40cm in height; 6.4 kg) depicting a poultry house. The image of a young peasant woman is saturated with rural warmth and radiates a special rustic lightness. The author masterfully depicted the features of the girl's clothes, paying special attention to small details. August Moreau was born in Dijon in 1855, and studied with sculptors Aime Millet, Augustine Drumont, Jean Thomas, and at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Moreau's style was realistic and graceful. His sculptures are striking examples of the Art Nouveau style. Several of his works are kept at the Museum of Fine Arts in the Trois-Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux.
