Alfred Dubucan (1828 - 1894) was a French sculptor who created extremely successful compositions. Dubukan was fascinated and inspired by the world of North Africa and successfully modeled stories from their lives. His interest in the nomadic peoples of North Africa is reflected in the presented composition "An Arab nomad and a girl", presented at the Paris Salon of 1883.
The interest of Europeans in the East in the XIX —XX centuries was most manifested in art. The East — from North Africa to Central Asia and the Middle East — has become the subject of art by European artists. The fashion for "ethnic" masterpieces in painting and sculpture, in interior design, in music, fashion and even in cooking has literally overwhelmed the Western world.
