The author masterfully conveys the characteristic features of the breed, carefully prescribing the relief of the body, muscles, aggressive grin. The author of the model is the famous French animal sculptor Charles Valton (1851-1918). A student of the famous founders of the French school of animalistic plastics Antoine Louis Bari and Emmanuel Fremier. From 1868 to 1914 he was a regular exhibitor of Paris Salons. In 1883, Walton was awarded the title of professor of sculpture, and in 1906 he was awarded the Legion of Honor for outstanding artistic achievements.
